GoLive Troubleshooting
Invalid Login

"Invalid Login" messages when trying to FTP site?

The programmers who worked on GoLive 3.x thought that if passwords were stored for more than a day they might constitute a security risk. So they set GoLive to "forget" the password if it had not been used after a certain amount of time [24hrs, I think].

The solution to this "feature" is to remember all your passwords for all your sites, and to leave Remember Password in Site > Settings... UNCHECKED [GoLive will ask you for your password when you try to connect].

GoLive 4.0 fixes this "feature", but still has security implementations. It will now store a password for ONE FTP server per site. If you upload the site to multiple servers, you will lose all other passwords but the one for the server you are connecting to. This reduces the damage if someone gets access to you computer with less-than-honorable intentions.
