New Window

Opening a new window with a link
Creating a new window with custom properties is very simple in GoLive. Create your link as usual. In the Actions Tab of the Link Inspector, add a Mouse Enter action. Select Action > Link > Open Window. You will be presented with the following options.

- The Link option is obvious.
- The Target is used if the current page is in a frameset, to open the referenced page in that frame.
- The Size is defined in width, then height. The new window will open with these dimensions. Note that this is the size of the internal part of the window, where the HTML is actually displayed.
- Uncheck Resize if you don't want to let the user resize the new window.
- The Scroll option lets you specify whether you want scroll bars to appear when the content is larger than the window's size.
- Unchecking Menu will remove items from the browser's menu bar.
- The Dir. box controls the display of the browser's directory buttons, like "What's New".
- Turning off Tools hides the browser's toolbar.
- Turn off Loc. to hide the browser's location display.
The Open Window action only works in 3.0 browsers in above. If you want to open a new window with older browsers, you can create a normal link and set the Target to _new. This will open the page in a new window, but you will have no control over its properties.
