GoLive Tutorial
Uniform Colors

How do I keep my site's colors the same in Photoshop, GoLive, and my web browser?

In Photoshop 5.0:

From the File Menu, choose Color Settings > RGB Setup...

Color Settings > RGB Setup...

In the RGB Setup window, choose Apple RGB from the RGB popup menu [Windows users should choose sRGB].

Choosing Apple RGB

Still within RGB Setup, make sure that the Display Using Monitor Compensation option is unchecked.

Uncheck Display Using Monitor Compensation

Click OK in the RGB Setup window. Now from the File Menu choose Color Settings > Profile Setup...

Color Settings > Profile Setup...

Within the Profile Setup window, in the Assumed Profiles area, choose None from the RGB popup menu.

Changing the RGB Profile Setup

Click OK. That's it for Photoshop! Now open GoLive.

In GoLive:

Select Preferences from the Edit Menu. Choose ColorSync™ from the options to the left. Make sure the Display Images using ColorSync™ check box [shown below] is unchecked.

Deactivating ColorSync in GoLive

Click OK. Easy, no?

Navigator, Communicator, Explorer, and other browsers should now display colors the same way you see them in GoLive. Remember that differences will exist, not only among different platforms but even from monitor to monitor. A user's settings can wreck havoc with the color tones themselves, but this procedure will ensure that they are at least uniformly wrecked. =)
